What is Botox®?
The area of your face that tends to develop some of the earliest signs of aging is the forehead and between the eyes. As you lose collagen, the skin is less able to resist the effects of muscle contractions that help with facial expressions. As such, the vertical lines between your eyes and wrinkles across your forehead are often referred to as “frown lines.” Crow’s feet are another type of wrinkle that is caused by muscle contractions. Botox® is a neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes the muscles to give the skin a chance to smooth out the wrinkles.

Dr. Ayala uses a fine needle to administer Botox®. Injections are made along the muscle to produce a consistent, even distribution of the product to relax the muscles.

What is Recovery Like After Botox®?
After your Botox® treatment, expect the full results to take up to seven days. For the first one to two days, you may notice some localized swelling, tenderness, and minor bleeding at each injection site. The results may last four to six months, and Dr. Ayala recommends follow-up treatments every four months.
