What to Expect

Skin cancer removal is performed in a clinical setting under local anesthesia. The procedure involves excising the lesion and a carefully determined margin of surrounding tissue. Once the pathologist confirms clear margins, the focus shifts to reconstruction planning based on the size, depth, and location of the resulting defect.

For lesions on the face, particularly in delicate areas such as the nose, eyelids, and cheeks, careful margin assessment and thoughtful closure planning are especially important. Dr. Ayala’s surgical training allows him to approach each case with both oncologic rigor and an awareness of the reconstructive implications from the outset.
