What Is Pro-Nox?

Pro-Nox is a self-administered nitrous oxide system that allows patients to manage their own comfort during in-office procedures. It delivers a controlled mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen through a handheld device, producing a calming, relaxed sensation within seconds. Patients remain fully awake and in control throughout, and the effects wear off quickly after use.

Pro-Nox is not sedation. It is a patient-controlled comfort tool designed to address three of the most common concerns patients have about in-office procedures: anxiety, pain, and the experience of being awake during treatment.

Anxiety

Analgesia

Anesthesia Support

Most in-office procedures at Ayala ENT & Facial Plastic Surgery are performed under local anesthesia. Patients are awake and may be aware of normal procedural sensations such as pressure, sounds, or smell. Pro-Nox complements local anesthesia by helping patients tolerate the experience more comfortably without requiring general anesthesia or IV sedation.

Candidacy

Who Is Pro-Nox For?

Pro-Nox is a good option for patients undergoing injectables, laser treatments, minor surgical procedures, and other aesthetic or ENT-related interventions who want additional comfort support. It is offered routinely as part of the pre-procedure conversation and is never required, but it is always available to any patient who would like it.

What to Expect

Pro-Nox is self-administered, meaning you control when and how much you use throughout the procedure. The onset is rapid and the effects wear off quickly, so most patients are able to drive themselves home after their appointment.
