Overview
What Is Laser Tattoo Removal?
Laser tattoo removal uses concentrated pulses of light energy to break down tattoo ink beneath the skin into smaller particles, which the body then gradually clears through its natural processes. At Ayala ENT & Facial Plastic Surgery, we use the Nd:YAG Q-switched laser, a gold-standard device in tattoo removal that operates at two wavelengths to address a wide range of ink colors.
The 1064 nm wavelength targets darker inks such as black and blue, while the 532 nm wavelength addresses brighter pigments including red and orange. This dual-wavelength capability allows for effective treatment across a broader spectrum of tattoo types and skin tones than many single-wavelength systems.
