Dysport® is an injectable neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles. By targeting the muscles that contract during facial expressions like frowning and squinting, Dysport® allows the overlying skin to smooth out and soften.
It is commonly used to address horizontal forehead lines, creases between the brows, and fine lines at the outer corners of the eyes.
Dysport® is administered via a series of small injections along the targeted muscles. Most patients feel only a slight prick at each injection site. For patients who are sensitive to injections, Dr. Ayala can apply a topical numbing cream beforehand. Appointments are typically completed in under 30 minutes with no downtime required.
There is no recovery period following Dysport®. Some patients experience minor pinpoint bleeding, bruising, or swelling at the injection sites for 24 to 48 hours. Results begin to appear in approximately 3 days and typically last 4 to 6 months. Follow-up treatments are recommended after four months to maintain results.
Both are neuromodulators that work by temporarily relaxing facial muscles. Dysport® tends to diffuse more broadly, which can make it well-suited for larger treatment areas like the forehead. Some patients also notice results appearing slightly faster with Dysport®. Dr. Ayala will recommend the best option based on your specific concerns during your consultation.
Most patients return every four months to maintain their results. Over time, some patients find they require touch-ups less frequently as the treated muscles become more relaxed.
