What Are Common Procedures for Men?

Although plastic surgery is mostly directed towards women, there are many men who have undergone procedures as well. Plastic surgery is intended to boost an individual’s confidence regardless of gender and can help both men and women achieve greater satisfaction with their bodies. However, while there are a large number of procedures available to both men and women, men generally tend to gravitate towards specific treatments. Listed below are some common plastic surgery procedures performed on men:

Male Breast Reduction Surgery

Male breast reduction surgery, or gynecomastia surgery, is used to reduce breast size, as well as to flattening and enhance chest contours. Many men are affected by gynecomastia, or enlarged breast tissue, so this is a popular procedure. There are different surgical methods used that depend upon each individual case. These methods include: the webster incision, the minimally invasive method, and the Ultrasonic Liposuction method.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, or nose job, improves the shape and structure of the nose. It can be used to correct structural damages, such as a deviated septum, that can cause breathing problems or to enhance the contour of the face. During a rhinoplasty, a small incision is made either inside the nose or on the columella and the tissue is reshaped as desired.

Eyelid Lifts

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift surgery, lifts the eyes by removing excess skin from the upper eyelids while also reducing bagginess under the lower eyelids. Eye lifts alone will not eliminate dark circles under the eyes, crow’s feet, or other types of wrinkles, however it can if done with laser resurfacing, filler injections, or forehead lifts. During an eyelid lift, a small incision is made on the upper eyelid, the skin is separated from underlying tissue, and excess fat and skin is removed. The cuts are then closed with small stitches.

Rhytidectomy

A Rhytidectomy, or face lift, improves visible signs of aging in the face and restores facial contour. It does not alter the face in any way, rather it simply gives it a younger appearance. This procedure uses an incision along the hairline, around the ear, and down into the lower scalp. The size of the incision depends on the results desired. Once the incision is made, excess skin and fat are removed and the remaining tissues is contoured.

Lower Rhytidectomy

A Lower Rhytidectomy, or neck lift, uses an incision made around the hairline of the sideburns, and around the ear. After the incision is made, fat is redistributed, excess skin is removed, and the remaining tissue is contoured. This procedure results in the elimination of double chins, restoration of strong jaw lines, and makes the neck appear longer.

Botox

Botox injections temporarily rid the face of wrinkles and fine lines, making men look younger. Botox is relatively painless, non-surgical, and is such an easy treatment, you can get it done on your lunch break. This procedure works by injecting the solution into the desired area and possibly contouring if needed.
